Message From Chairman:

My name is David Wherry and I am your Dixie Contingent Chairman. I was placed into this position a little late in the game, but with your help, I hope to make my contribution to Dixie a success.

There are several things that need to be decided rather soon. First of all, we need to decide if we like the pirate theme idea. If you do, please send me an e-mail with your thoughts on a common link that would represent the pirate theme between our lodge members. (i.e., Bandanas, patches, other sorts of props, etc.) Unlike last year, it will be up to each delegate to supply their own props. If a theme is adopted by the majority of brothers who respond, a list of suggested props will be sent to brothers early next week. Of course, the other option if you don't necessarily like the pirate theme or want a theme this year is to focus on spirit and cheers and omit a theme. Please send me your comments/suggestions. A decision needs to be made by April 19th so please send me an email at jdwherry@aol.com with your reply as soon as possible.

Second, we will need adults to assist in judging this year . Please e-mail Mr. Morris, scoutmaster@msdnplanet.com, as soon as possible. Remember, you must be 21 years or older to be a judge. We will need help with the Quest event which take place on Saturday afternoon, the ceremonial competition, dance competition, singing competition and the administrative events. Just a reminder, there will be a meeting of all judges on Friday night that judges will need to attend.

Next, I need to know if any chapter is willing to help lead in cheering. Last year, I believe Tatanka did this and did a great job in helping us win the Spirit award, who wants to do it this year?

We are planning to meet Friday night at Dixie to finalize the assignments for the Quest events but in the meantime, if you have an interest or expertise in any of the events, please let me know what event you would like to do on Saturday.

As you can see, we have a lot of decisions to be made so if you could please contact me as soon as possible (no later than April 19th) with how you can help, it would be greatly appreciated. You can contact me at JDWHERRY@aol.com or Mr. Morris at scoutmaster@msdnplanet.com.

Thanks for your support and help.

Yours in Brotherhood,
David Wherry
