There has been a change of date for the upcoming Lodge Executive Board meeting. The meeting was going to be this upcoming Wednesday, July 6th but now will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at the Scout Service Center. This change is due to a logistical problem between LEB members that are on Camp Grimes Staff and those remaining in Charlotte. Thank you for your understanding and I hope to see you on August 10th at 7:00.

Dixie FellowshipDixie Write-Up Posted

Posted: May 16, 2005

Dixie Fellowship this year was hosted by Muscogee Lodge at Camp Barstow in South Carolina. It can be said for certain that all of those who attended enjoyed themselves. Even through the rain and mud which left a creek running through our campsite, aptly named Wateree, the sun came out and it turned out to be a very pretty weekend... [More]

Dustin Counts passes the bonnett to John Mickey John Mickey is Installed as Lodge Chief

Posted: May 11, 2005

At this past Executive Board meeting, John Mickey was installed as the Catawba Lodge Chief to fill the vacancy left by Dustin Counts' election to Section Chief. Elections were also held for the Vice Chief of Program and Vice Chief of Inductions vacancies.  Sean Smith was elected Vice Chief of Program and Michael Baker was elected Vice Chief of Inductions.

That leaves two more vacancies - we are now missing a Lodge Secretary and a Apache Chapter Chief. Elections will be conducted during the Beaver Festival at Mecklenburg Scout Reservation for these two offices during the weekend of May 20-22.

Lodge Elections Election for a New Vice Chief of Program & Inductions Scheduled

Posted: April 29, 2005

As you may know our Lodge Chief, Dustin Counts, was elected SR-5 Section Chief at the past Dixie Fellowship. In light of this, Order of the Arrow policy states he must resign his position of Lodge Chief. In this instance, per the Catawba Lodge By-Laws, the Vice Chief of Program, John Mickey, will become Lodge Chief. This leaves us with out a Vice Chief of Program. Also a new Vice Chief of Inductions will need to be elected because the former Vice Chief of Inductions had to step aside to concentrate on school.

The elections for a new Vice Chief of Program and Inductions will be held this coming Wednesday, May 4th at the Lodge Executive Board Meeting. This meeting will begin at 7:00 PM and will be held at the Scout Service Center; all lodge members are invited to attend. Remember who leads this lodge is your decision so please attend and have your voice heard.

Former Lodge Adviser's Mother Passes On

Posted: March 23, 2005

Max Cooper's mother passed away this morning. Mr. Cooper is our former lodge adviser and strong supporter of our lodge, the Order of the Arrow and Boy Scouting in general. Mrs. Cooper was a regular attendee of our Annual Banquet and at many other Scouting events since the early 90's. Condolences may be sent to:

Max Cooper
4108 Coleman Dr.
Charlotte, NC 28215-9536

The service will be out of town . The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the council Endowment fund. Donation checks should be made out to "BSA" with "Catawba Lodge Memoriam for Mrs. Cooper" in the memo. The Cooper's have been and continue to be active members of our Scouting family.

In addition to the Cooper family loss, Scouting has had two other tragedies in the past week.

David Royster who is a vigil honor member of our lodge and very active troop, district, and council scouter, lost his son, Robert Royster, in a car accident last Thursday. His son was an Eagle Scout and a Brotherhood member of our lodge.

Mary Meir passed away this past weekend. She was the wife of George Meir (also known as Jose). Mr. Meir is a life member of the the lodge and has been very active on the council property committee.

Our Condolences go out to the Coopers, the Meier family, and the Roysters. Brothers please keep the families in your thoughts and prayers.
