2007 Trailblazer
September 29, at Belk
Scout Camp
Our chapter had the opportunity to sell drinks and candy at this
council Cub Scout event. We brought Hwatu, our mascot
for the Cubs to enjoy. We showed up with 12 OA brothers
and were able to find ways to serve the Event in several ways.
We assisted the event staff by manning one of the events and we were
able to assist the OA cook team in helping with the dining hall
preparation and clean up after the meals. Below is a testimony
from one of the brothers who was asked to serve by manning an event.
Attending the Trailblazer event at Belk Scout Camp on September 29,
2007 was an AMAZING experience. You would think that having almost
1,000 people in attendance would be chaotic but it was so much fun.
Archery and BB shooting seemed to be the most popular events. The
craft shelter was also quite bust. Scouts were working with lanyards
and beads. Boating was cancelled due to the drought and the lake
level being very low. A lot of families that are new to scouting
attended this event. A questionnaire was filled out by the parents
and scouts about their experiences during the event. Overall I would
give the event an A-, which is pretty good for such a large event.
It is always fun to help out my fellow scouts.
